Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe discussed security arrangements for the upcoming Vesak festival when he met the Chief Prelates (Mahanayaka theros) in Kandy today.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, the Prime Minister said that the Chief Prelates will decide on events to have during Vesak based on the security situation at the time.
The Prime Minister said that the Chief Prelates have advised temples in the respective areas to hold religious observances for Vesak and decide on any other event after having talks with the respective security agencies.
The Prime Minister said that he also thanked the Chief Prelates for taking steps to ensure peace was maintained after the Easter Sunday attacks. (Colombo Gazette)
