Ranil says white van culture must not return

United National Party (UNP) leader and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says the white van culture must not return to Sri Lanka. He says the current Government ensured the white van culture came to an end and that must continue. The Prime Minister was speaking at an event held in Colombo today. He said that the UNP will be forming a new alliance with several political parties by the end of this month.

China awards scholarships to 24 Sri Lankan students

China today awarded scholarships to 24 Sri Lankan students, at a ceremony held at the Chinese Embassy in Colombo. The Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Cheng Xueyuan handed over the scholarships. Madhawa Dewasurendra, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Higher Education, and Amb. Periyasamy Pillai Selvaraj, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the ceremony together with the winners and their family members. Basil feels Gotabaya will respect democracy
