Committee on Easter attacks seeks information from public

A special committee appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena to investigate incidents related to the Easter Sunday attacks has sought information from the public.

The committee appointed by the President on April 21, 2019 commenced work on April 22 and has recorded statements from several high ranking state officials including former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and IGP Pujith Jayasundara, the President’s media division said.

The committee is now scheduled to obtain statements from several others and through the newspaper advertisements it has also requested the public and institutions to submit their opinion and information in this regard.

The Special Investigation Committee is headed by Supreme Court Judge Vijith K. Malalgoda while former IGP N.K. Illangakoon and former Law and Order Ministry Secretary Padamasiri Jayamanne have been appointed as members of the committee. (Colombo Gazette)
