Terror leader’s driver taken into custody

The driver of terror leader Sahran Hashim Mohammad, has been arrested, the Police said.

He was arrested in Kattankudy and handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

A vehicle used to transport the suicide bombers was also seized.

The Police have also seized a kit similar to that worn by Sahran Hashim, also known as Mohommad Zaharan, in a video where he extends support to the Islamic State (IS).

Sahran Hashim is believed to be the mastermind behind the terror attacks on Easter Sunday.

He was reportedly killed in one of the suicide attacks in Colombo last Sunday. (Colombo Gazette)

Sri Lanka undecided on accepting Taliban rule in Afghanistan

Sri Lanka is undecided if it will accept a Taliban rule in Afghanistan. Cabinet co-spokesman and Media Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has directed the Foreign Ministry to decide on the matter. Navy ships from Sri Lanka and India heading to Colombo with oxygen

A Sri Lanka Navy ship and an Indian Navy ship are heading to Colombo with much needed oxygen. Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) Shakthi which departed the Trincomalee harbour on 17th August 2021 for a shipment of medical grade oxygen, arrived at the port of Chennai, India in the evening of 18th August.
