Massive search operation underway in Colombo

A massive search operation is underway in Colombo with vehicles and some buildings being checked.

Road blocks have been placed around Colombo and some houses are also being checked.

The search operation has been launched following fears that suspects linked to the terror network involved in the Easter Sunday bombing could be in the city.

A suspicious vehicle in Katunayake was searched and the road near the airport was closed but the area was later cleared.

The Police urged the public not to panic and to assist the Police in the operations. (Colombo Gazette)

A special operations room has been set up to monitor information on dangerous drugs. The?special operations room will be in operation from tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. The Police said that information related to dangerous drugs can be passed to the Police through the hotline numbers 0113024803 and 0113024815.

Two policemen killed in Galgamuwa road accident

Two policemen were killed following a road accident in?Galgamuwa, the Police media unit said. The Police said the two policemen were travelling on a motorcycle when it crashed into a vehicle along the Anuradhapura – Habarana road last night. The two policemen were killed in the accident.
