President insists he was in the dark on intelligence report

President Maithripala Sirisena today insisted that he was in the dark with regards to an intelligence report warning of suicide attacks in Sri Lanka.

Addressing the nation today, the President said that he has now decided to make drastic changes in the security establishment over the next 24 hours.

Sirisena, who is also the Minister of Law and Order, said that if he was alerted in advance he would have taken steps to prevent the attacks from taking place.

He said that he will take stern action on those who failed to inform him of the intelligence report.

The Government had earlier said that the intelligence report was only shared with the Police Chief and the President and that other members of the Government were left in the dark.

The President said that the cabinet had this week discussed the failure on intelligence sharing.

Sirisena said that tough action will be taken to ensure similar incidents do not take place in future. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. Who is responsible if he was in dark. People around him. Please change opportunistic counsels. advisors around you his Excellency. They are the culprits, but President trusted them without trusting the Prime Minister who have confidence of the People. Prime Minister is a great fool. He should have told the People that he has been ostracised by the President from the Security counciil Meetings. It appears thatb he is the Prime Minister on Paper only. Why hang around , for perks only or to get cover for Bond scam. The need of the hour is cohesion of the Presdient and thePrime Minister. Lot of opportunsits and coteries around both these men will not allow this to happen. So the solution may be both Parliamentary, and Presidential election simultaneously.

  2. Dear President.please let the people know who recieved the warning from India the date and time.
    We can go from there.
It is indeed very late for explanations about what each could have done if he or she had got the information.Indeed too late.
Our people, children and friends have left our dear island.

Thank you in advance for your reply.
