Maithripala warns media, says next President will be tough

President Maithripala Sirisena today warned the media saying the next President will be a tough character.

Speaking at the Presidential media awards held at the BMICH today, the President said that he has become a target of the media both online and in the mainstream media.

“I am an easy target,” the President said.

He said that no President, other than former President D.B. Wijetunga had a good relationship with the media.

President Sirisena said that several names have been mentioned these days of possible Presidential nominees.

He said that looking at the nominees, the media must take note that if any of them are elected as President the media will find it tough. (Colombo Gazette)

Twenty pilots refused to fly plane when SriLankan Airlines pilot fell sick

Twenty SriLankan Airlines pilots refused to step in and fly a plane scheduled to travel to Korea when the main pilot fell sick, Parliament was informed today. Civil Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva told Parliament that 20 pilots who were on leave were requested to step in when the main pilot fell sick on Tuesday but all 20 refused.
