Appeal filed by Wele Suda against death sentence rejected

An appeal filed by notorious drug trafficker Samantha Kumara alias ‘Wele Suda’ against the death sentence imposed on him, was today rejected by the Court of Appeal.

Wele Suda was in 2015 sentenced to death by the Colombo High Court, on the charges of possessing and trafficking 7.05 grams of heroin in Mount Lavinia in 2008.

While handing out a 125-page judgement, the High Court maintained that the prosecutors have proven the accused was guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. (Colombo Gazette)
