Over 769 kg of cocaine destroyed at Sapugaskanda warehouse

Over 769 kg of cocaine seized by the law enforcement agencies were destroyed at a warehouse in Sapugaskanda today.

President Maithripala Sirisena witnessed the cocaine being destroyed at an event open to the media.

The Colombo Magistrate, the Mount Lavinia Magistrate and other officials were also present during the event.

The cocaine was mixed in cement at the event and will later be taken to Puttalam where it will be incinerated.

The cocaine is said to be worth over Rs.10.9 billion.

Today was the second time a large quantity of cocaine was destroyed publicly. (Colombo Gazette)

Special operation in Colombo to nab violators of travel ban

A special operation was conducted in the Western Province including Colombo to nab anyone violating the travel ban. Police Spokesman, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajith Rohana said that the operation was conducted yesterday (Saturday) and today.
