Kanjipani ordered to be detained under PTA

The Colombo Additional Magistrate today allowed the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) to detain and further question notorious criminal Kanjipani Imran under the controversial Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).

Kanjipani Imran was produced in court today after being detained for questioning.

The CCD requested that court grant approval for Kanjipani Imran be further detained to be questioned.

Accordingly, the Colombo Additional Magistrate allowed the CCD to further detain Kanjipani Imran under the PTA.

Kanjipani Imran was deported to Sri Lanka this week after being arrested in Dubai with notorious underworld leader Makandure Madush.

He was arrested at the airport and detained for questioning before being produced before the Magistrate today. (Colombo Gazette)
