Controversial Southern PC member to resign

Controversial Southern Provincial Council member Krishantha Pushpakumara alias ?Raththaran? has decided to resign from all political activities.

Pushpakumara had been accused of being involved in the sexual abuse of a school girl.

The Provincial Council member was arrested over the charge and granted bail.

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) member said that he had decided to step down from politics to ensure investigations into the allegations are free and fair. (Colombo Gazette)

Over 1800 illegal constructions identified in Colombo

Over 1800 illegal constructions have been identified in Colombo, Megapolis and Western Region Development Minister Champika Ranawaka said. He says the Urban Development Authority (UDA) will take steps to file action against such illegal constructions in Colombo and other parts of the country.
