Travel ban on Gota temporarily lifted

A travel ban imposed on former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa was temporarily lifted by the special High Court today.

Rajapaksa had sought permission to travel overseas from March 26 to April 12 and the court gave the clearance.

Rajapaksa and six others appeared before the special High Court today over the case on the misappropriation of Rs 33.9 million of state funds to build the D.A. Rajapaksa Memorial Museum.

The trial-at-bar was requested by lawyers to permit Rajapaksa to travel overseas.

The court approved the request and ordered that his passport be released. (Colombo Gazette)
