IUSF Convener Maheel Bandara remanded

Convener of the Inter-University Student?s Union (IUSF) Maheel Bandara was remanded today till March 18.

Bandara was arrested yesterday during a protest staged near Parliament.

The Police fired tear gas and water cannons on the protesting university students near Parliament.

The students were blocked by the Police near the Parliament roundabout as the students attempted to proceed towards Parliament.

The Police then fired tear gas and water cannons on the students.

The Convener of the IUSF Maheel Bandara was later arrested by the Police for behaving in an unruly manner during the protest. (Colombo Gazette)
