Karannagoda appears before the CID for a second day

Former Navy Commander Retired Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda appeared before the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today, for a second day this week, to make a statement related to the case on the abduction of 11 youth.

Karannagoda was ordered by court to appear before the CID this week. However the Supreme Court issued an order preventing the CID from arresting him.

He was questioned for over 8 hours by the CID on Monday.

Earlier, Karannagoda had filed a Fundamental Rights petition in court against moves to arrest him.

The Supreme Court then issued an order preventing his arrest but ordering that he appear before the CID to record a statement.

The 11 youth had been abducted in Colombo and the suburbs between 2008 and 2009.?(Colombo Gazette)

Non-Cabinet Minister Harsha de Silva resigned from his Ministerial post today. Harsha de Silva said that he had resigned so President Gotabaya Rajapaksa could appoint a person suitable to the post. In his letter of resignation to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Harsha de Silva said that he gave his best to all portfolios he held and is satisfied that he was able to contribute towards the development of the country.
