President brings TRC under Defence and SriLankan under Finance

President Maithripala Sirisena has issued an extraordinary gazette notice bringing the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRC) under the purview of the Ministry of Defence.

Through the extraordinary gazette the financially troubled SriLankan Airlines and its subsidiaries have been brought under the purview of the Ministry of Finance.

Meanwhile the Mahinda Rajapaksa National Tele-cinema Park (Ranmihithenna) has been brought under the Minister of Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs.

The President has also brought Sri Lanka Telecom PLC and its subsidiaries and associates under the Minister of Telecommunications, Foreign Employment and Sports. (Colombo Gazette)

Jayalalithaa warns against arresting fishermen
