Suspects smuggling cigarettes worth Rs 4M arrested

Two individuals have been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while attempting smuggle in a stock of foreign cigarettes worth Rs 4.1 million. The two suspects are residents of Weweldeniya and Gampola and were apprehended by Customs Officers attached to the BIA when?they arrived from Dubai around 5.00 am this today. A total 279 foreign cigarette cartons containing an estimated 673 pack of cigarettes were confiscated.

Suspect arrested with 650 foreign liquor bottles

An individual was arrested in wattala with 650 bottles of foreign liquor bottles. The arrest was carried out a by joint task force officers from the Excise Deparment and the Western Naval Command who had raided a suspiciously parked car. Upon search of the car the task force had found a large consignment of 650 foreign liquor bottles which they confiscated.
