Talks to form SLPP-led broad alliance underway

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) says talks are underway to form a broad alliance which will be led by the SLPP.

Parliamentarian Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said that in the past a broad alliance has always been led by a strong political force.

Abeywardena noted that in the past, alliances were formed around the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and the United National Party (UNP).

However, he says today the SLPP is a strong force and so the SLPP will lead a new alliance.

He said that the SLPP is being further strengthened to lead a new, broad alliance. (Colombo Gazette)

IMF delegation holds key talks in Colombo
