Government insists war crimes not committed by military

The Government today insisted that war crimes were not committed by the military during the war with the LTTE.

Science, Technology and Research Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe said that the Government has always maintained that the military never committed war crimes.

Human rights groups and the Tamil diaspora have been calling for investigations over claims that war crimes were committed by the military.

However, Senasinghe said that he had personally studied the allegations after the war and was of the opinion that the claims were not factually correct. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. What a rant by this person. Next thing is the civilian war did not take place. There was no massacre of Tamils in 1983. About a million Tamils liked the country so much, they have to leave in droves as refugees.
