Former Sri Lankan Ambassador to the US remanded

Sri Lanka’s former Ambassador to the US, Jaliya Wickremesuriya was today ordered to be remanded till December 2 by the Colombo Fort Magistrate. Wickremesuriya was arrested over allegations he misused state funds when he was the Ambassador to the US.

Five policemen further remanded over Jaffna shooting

Five policemen who had been arrested over a shooting incident in Jaffna were further remanded till December 2 by the Jaffna Magistrate today. The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) had commenced an investigation into the deaths of two Jaffna University students, who were killed after being shot at by the police when they were?travelling on a motorcycle in Kankasanturai recently. Five Police officers had been arrested over the incident and were immediately interdicted. (Colombo Gazette)

Muslim Council deplores statement by Wijeyadasa on ISIS

The Muslim Council of Sri Lanka (MCSL) has raised serious concerns about the statement made in Parliament by Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe MP, Minister of Justice about the Muslim community. MCSL noted that the Minister has implied that 32 Muslims have joined the ISIS recently.
