Mahinda Deshapriya threatens to resign

Chairman of the Elections Commission Mahinda Deshapriya has threatened to resign from his post if the?Provincials Council elections are not held?before the 9th of November this year.

Deshapriya told reporters that he has been under pressure over the delay to hold the elections.

He said that as a citizen he is also keen to ensure the?Provincials Council elections are held soon.

Deshapriya said that if the elections are not held by November he will resign as the?Chairman of the Elections Commission and remain as a member only. (Colombo Gazette)

Mobile brothel busted in Mount

A mobile brothel was busted in the Mount Lavinia area, the police media unit said today. The police said that a car used for the transportation of women for prostitution was seized near the ‘Lobster Hotel’ in Mount Lavinia. A man involved in the operation as well as three women used as prostitutes were arrested. The three women are residents of Kandy, Madampe and Balapitiya, the police media unit said.
