Special High Court begins hearing case on Gota

The?Special High Court today began hearing the case against former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa on the misappropriation of funds for the D.A. Rajapaksa Museum.

Rajapaksa appeared before the?Special High Court today over the case where he was accused of misappropriating state funds amounting to Rs 49 million during the construction of the D.A. Rajapaksa Museum and Memorial in Medamulana.

The Permanent High Court Trial at Bar had decided to hear the case?from today.

When the case was heard today, the indictments against the seven defendants including Rajapaksa were read out. (Colombo Gazette)

Soldier on duty at MOD commits suicide

A soldier at the Ministry of Defence (MOD) committed suicide by shooting himself with his weapon. The Police said that the soldier was on duty at the sentry point when he commiitted suicide. Similar incidents of soldiers committing suicide have been reported over the past few weeks.
