SLPP CMC member granted bail over CPC incident

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Colombo Municipal Council member K. G. Kulathissa, who was in remand over his involvement in the unrest at the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) premises in October, was granted bail today.
Kulathissa was accused of preventing Minister Arjuna Ranatunga from performing his duties at the time at the CPC office.
A tense situation arose at the CPC office in October when some employees and others attempting to assault?Ranatunga.
Ranatunga?s security guard opened fire injuring at least two people.
One person succumbed to his injuries in hospital later.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne today released the suspect on a cash bail of Rs 10,000 and two personal bonds of Rs 200,000. (Colombo Gazette)
