Parents protest outside Anula Vidyalaya in Nugegoda

Parents protested outside Anula Vidyalaya in Nugegoda disrupting traffic along High Level road today.

The protest was over the reopening of a private Sunday school in the school premises.

The?private Sunday school had been closed earlier but was forcefully reopened by Western Province Governor Azath Salley today.

The?private Sunday school was closed by the Education Ministry on a complaint made by the school principal.

The principal had complained that school resources were being used to operate the private Sunday school by a businessman.

Western Province Governor Azath Salley had however spoken to the principal and ordered that the?private Sunday school be?reopened.

Angry parents protested outside the school today against the decision taken by the Governor. (Colombo Gazette)

Price of petrol Octane 90 increased

The price of a litre of petrol Octane 90 has been increased by Rs. 10?from today, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and LIOC announced. Accordingly the new?price of a litre of petrol Octane 90 will be Rs. 159 per litre at CPC fuel outlets from today. The price of Octane 95 and?diesel have not changed. Orphaned child drowns in Wellawatte

An orphaned child fell into a canal in Wellawatte and drowned this afternoon, the police media unit said. The police said that the 9 year old boy was living at the children’s home in Dharmarama road, Wellawatte. The police identified the child as Mohommad Milnath. The Wellawatte police are conducting further investigations.
