SLPP says UNP protecting Lasantha, Eknaligoda killers

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) says the United National Party (UNP) is protecting the killers of journalists Lasantha Wickremetunga and Prageeth Eknaligoda.

United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP and SLPP member Roshan Ranasinghe said that the killers of?Wickremetunga and Eknaligoda are with the UNP.

Wickremetunga was killed in January 2009 while?Eknaligoda was reported missing in January 2010.

Ranasinghe said that if the Government properly investigates the incidents as well as attacks on Muslims, they will find that those involved are with the Government. (Colombo Gazette)

Curfew re-imposed, all Kandy school matches postponed

A curfew has been?re-imposed in Kandy from 6pm today to 6am tomorrow, the Police said. The tensions in the Kandy area eased this morning resulting in the Police deciding to lift the curfew at 10 this morning. However the Police said the curfew has been re-imposed at 6pm this evening. Meanwhile all school cricket ‘big match’ games in Kandy have been postponed owing to the prevailing security situation in Kandy. (Colombo Gazette)
