Government accused of cover-up in Lasantha, Thajudeen case

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) today accused the Government?of a cover-up in the investigation into the murder of journalist Lasantha Wickremetunga and rugger player Wasim Thajudeen.

TNA Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran told Parliament the?Government has failed to arrest those involved in the murder of?journalist Lasantha Wickremetunga as well as rugger player Wasim Thajudeen.

He said the Government, which took office in 2015, has made several statements but there was little or no action.

“Why has there been no progress?” Sumanthiran asked.

Sumanthiran also said that the Government does not seem to know the name of a single Tamil journalist killed in the North.

He also said that while investigations had commenced over the murder of Lasantha Wickremetunga and disappearance of journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda, there were no investigations over the murder of Tamil journalists. (Colombo Gazette)
