Portfolios gazetted, MS keeps Police, Mangala gets state media

The portfolios of the new cabinet have been gazetted with President Maithripala Sirisena keeping Law and Order under him which means he will control the Police service.
Meanwhile, Finance and Media Minister Mangala Samaraweera has been allocated the responsibility of managing state media and all state banks.
Samaraweera has been allocated the functions and duties coming under 48 state departments and institutions, including the National Lotteries board.
Samaraweera has also been handed over the responsibilities of the state media and state banks.
Power and Energy Minister Ravi Karunanayake has been allocated the responsibilities of seven departments and institutions which operate under the Ministry of Power and Energy.
However his duties and functions include, as per the gazette notice, includes presenting policy proposals to obtain the assistance of the business community to strengthen the economy and helping improve Sri Lanka?s rankings in the Ease of Doing Business Index.
He has also been tasked with assisting the private sector to resolve any issues they face.
The duties and functions of the Non-cabinet Ministers were also gazetted separately. (Colombo Gazette)
