Central Bank assures foreign exchange to import essential goods

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) today reassured its commitment to ensuring the availability of foreign exchange within the banking system for the importation of essential goods, including the food items. The Ministry of Finance issued Import Control Regulations on Payment Terms No.07 of 2022, dated 06 May 2022, and to be effective from 20 May 2022, by restricting the use of Open Account Payment Terms or Consignment Account Terms, subject to conditions, when importing goods to Sri Lanka. Domestic gas shipment arrives in Sri Lanka

A shipment of domestic gas arrived in Sri Lanka today and distribution is expected to commence tomorrow (Tuesday) Litro Gas said that?3,500 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum (LP) gas arrived in the country today. The unloading of the shipment commenced today and distribution of part of the stocks will be carried out tomorrow (Tuesday).
