PM visits the North to assess flood damage

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe visited the North today to assess the damage caused by the floods.

Wickremesinghe visited Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu and had talks with officials in the area.

He also chaired a meeting in Kilinochchi which was attended by several other Ministers and Government officials.

Non-cabinet Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva said that it was decided at the meeting that Rs. 10,000 will be given immediately to every family affected by the floods.

He also said that it was decided that Rs. 2.5 Million will be given to the affected families via insurance after a full assessment is carried out.

Thousands have been affected by the floods in the North and several have been displaced. (Colombo Gazette)
