Mervyn Silva insists he never tied anyone to a tree

Former Minister Mervyn Silva today insisted that he never tied anyone to a tree when he was in the Government.

In?2010 he was accused of forcing a?samurdhi officer to be tied to a tree?over his failure to attend a dengue prevention programme in Kelaniya.

However speaking after newly appointed Non-cabinet Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe assumed duties today,?Silva said that the?samurdhi officer tied himself to the tree.

“I told him to tie himself to the tree for people to see,” he said.

SLPP prepared to renegotiate agreements with other countries

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) is prepared to renegotiate agreements Sri Lanka has already signed with other countries, SLPP founder Basil Rajapaksa said today.
