Mahinda to contest from Kurunegala District

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa will contest the upcoming Parliamentary election from the Kurunegala District, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Chairman, Professor G.L Peiris said today. Speaking to reporters today, G.L Peiris said that there have been misleading reports circulating claiming that Rajapaksa will not contest from Kurunegala. CID records statement from Rajitha Senaratne

Former Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne gave a statement to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today. The CID recorded a statement from the former Minister over the controversial ‘white van’ media conference. Senaratne was questioned by the CID on the same issue two weeks ago. The former Minister hosted a press conference last November ahead of the Presidential election claiming white vans were used to abduct people when Mahinda Rajapaksa was President.

Saman Rathnapriya?s name gazetted to fill vacant Parliament seat

The name of activist Saman Rathnapriya has been gazetted to fill the vacant United National Front (UNF) seat in Parliament. Rathnapriya will replace Dr. Jayampathy Wickramaratne who resigned from Parliament recently for personal reasons. Saman Rathnapriya is the joint Convenor of the People?s Collective Movement (Purawesi Ekamuthuwa).
