Saman Ekanayake appointed Prime Minister Secretary

Saman Ekanayake, who is a senior Special Grade officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service, was appointed as Secretary to the Prime Minister today.

He served as?Prime Minister Secretary before Ranil Wickremesinghe was sacked in October.

Following Wickremesinghe’s reappointment today as Prime Minister?Ekanayake was appointed as?Prime Minister Secretary.

Ekanayake is a graduate of the University of Peradeniya in Sociology, and he has also obtained a Masters Degree from Post Graduate Institute of Management of Sri Jayewardenepura University on Public Administration.

He has served in the Prime Minister?s Office, Department of Government Information, Ministries of Housing, External Affairs, Finance, Youth Affairs and Industries. He has also served in Sri Lanka High Commission in Kuala Lumpur and Sri Lanka High Commission in London.

He has also served as Head of Agency in Sri Lanka of the UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlement Programme).

PC polls not linked to Trinco oil farm deal with India

The Provincial Council (PC) election is not linked to the Trincomalee oil farm deal with India, Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila said today.
