United National Front (UNF) leader Ranil Wickremesinghe is expected to take oaths as Prime Minister on Sunday.
The United National Party (UNP) said that President Maithripala Sirisena had a discussion with Wickremesinghe over the telephone today.
The UNP said that it was decided during the discussion that Wickremesinghe will take oaths as Prime Minister on Sunday morning.
According to the UNP, Wickremesinghe will take oaths at 10am on Sunday.
Wickremesinghe was removed from office by the President on October 26th igniting a political crisis which lasted for several weeks.
Wickremesinghe refused to accept the sacking and challenged it in court and in Parliament.
President Sirisena, meanwhile insisted that he will never appoint Wickremesinghe again as Prime Minister.
He also said that if Wickremesinghe is appointed Prime Minister again he will step down as President. (Colombo Gazette)
