UNP files Police complaint over false TNA-UNP deal

The United National Party (UNP) has filed a Police complaint over a forged document claiming to be a deal reached between the UNP and Tamil National Alliance (TNA).

In a media statement today, the UNP insisted that a written agreement had not been reached between the UNP and the TNA to obtain the support of the TNA for UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe in Parliament.

The UNP said that false claims are being made of a written agreement being reached between the TNA and the UNP.

The UNP said that a false document is also being circulated with the forged signatures of Wickremesinghe and TNA leader R. Sampanthan.

The UNP said that a police complaint has been filed over the false document.

The resolution on Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) was passed without a vote in Geneva today. The resolution ‘A/HRC/34/L.1’ was passed with 36 additional co-sponsors.
