A special team from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is in Hong Kong as part of ongoing investigations into the alleged plot to kill President Maithripala Sirisena.
The CID team is in Hong Kong to recover the voice recordings related to the case, deleted from the mobile telephone of activist Namal Kumara.
Two officers from the CID and an official from the Government Analyst’s Department are in Hong Kong to obtain expert assistance to recover the data.
Namal Kumara had revealed details of the plot to kill the President following a telephone conversation he had with former Terrorist Investigations Department (DIG) Nalaka de Silva.
