Rishad says his party is not looking to promote Ranil

All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) leader Rishad Bathiudeen says the intention of his party is not to promote?Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Bathiudeen said that the ACMC is supporting the United National Party (UNP) purely to protect democracy and the Constitution.

?We do not have any personal passion for the individual, Ranil Wickremesinghe MP. There is no relationships? between the ACMC and the UNP either. We as the ACMC stand with the UNP only to safeguard democracy and to uphold our Constitution that has been violated repeatedly,” he said.

Bathiudeen says the ACMC supports Wickremesinghe being reappointed as Prime Minister only since his removal was illegal.

“The removal of Wickremesinghe MP from PM is a clear violation of the Constitution and this is where we say it is wrong,” he said. (Colombo Gazette)
