President ready to withdraw gazette on dissolution

President Maithripala Sirisena is willing to withdraw the gazette notice issued to dissolve Parliament, the United National Front (UNF) said.

UNF Parliamentarian Mano Ganesan said that the President had indicated this at the meeting with the UNF last night.

“President indicated his willingness to withdraw the gazetting of dissolution & added that he will not dissolve or prorougue again,” Mano Ganesan tweeted.

He also said that President Sirisena had accepted that Mahinda Rajapaksa did not have majority support in Parliament.

However the President had stressed that he will not appoint Ranil Wickremesinghe as Prime Minister. (Colombo Gazette)
