Key information on plot to kill the President to be revealed

Key information on a plot to kill President Maithripala Sirisena will be revealed over the next few days, the Government said today.

Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara told reporters today that key information had surfaced in the investigations and it will be revealed soon.

Former Terrorist Investigations Department head, (DIG)?Nalaka de Silva, was arrested last month by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) after being questioned?over the alleged conspiracy to assassinate President Maithripala Sirisena and other VVIPs.

An Indian national was also arrested in connection to the investigations.

Activist Namal Kumara had made the revelation to the media over the plot to kill the President, following a telephone conversation he had with?Nalaka de Silva.

Term of PSC on Easter Sunday attacks extended

The term of the Parliament Select Committee (PSC) appointed to investigate incidents related to the Easter Sunday attacks, has been extended. Parliament today approved a proposal to extend the term of the PSC till October 30. The term of the PSC had earlier been extended till September 30.
