PM says Sri Lanka has support of Islamic nations

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa says Islamic nations of the world have always unconditionally supported Sri?Lanka in the international fora.

In a statement to mark the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Mohamed, Rajapaksa thanked?Islamic nations for the?unstinted support they have given Sri Lanka.

“I wish to convey my warmest felicitations to all Muslims in Sri Lanka marking the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Mohamed. The followers of Islam in?Sri Lanka commemorate this auspicious day with religious observances,?charitable deeds and contemplation of the Holy Prophet?s teachings.?The Islamic nations of the world have always unconditionally supported Sri?Lanka in international fora and I take this opportunity to express my gratitude?for that unstinted support and also to extend my greetings on this Holy Day to?the followers of Islam in those nations as well,” the Prime Minister said in a brief message. Ninety-five Navy personnel of Welisara camp infected

Police clarify new NIC system only when curfew is relaxed

The Police today clarified that the newly introduced National Identity Card (NIC) system will only be in effect in districts where the Police curfew is relaxed and not during curfew hours. Army assures no shortage of quarantine centers

The Military says there is no shortage of quarantine centers in Sri Lanka. Foreign Secretary Ravinatha Aryasinha yesterday said over 27,000 Sri Lankans who are overseas have expressed their wish to return to Sri Lanka in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
