Former President Chandrika Kumaraunga and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met each other at the swearing in ceremony of the new Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in Male’ today.
Kumaratunga flew to the Maldives yesterday to attend the oath taking ceremony of the new President of the Maldives.
Kumaratunga was greeted on her arrival in the Maldives by former Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed.
She met Modi as she arrived for the swearing in ceremony and was seen having an animated conversation before she took her seat near him, next to Nasheed.
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa’s son Namal Rajapaksa was also a guest at the event. (Colombo Gazette)
