CBK in the Maldives for oath taking of new President

Former President Chandrika Kumaratunga flew to the Maldives today to attend the oath taking ceremony of the new President of the Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will take oaths as the new President tomorrow at a ceremony which will also be attended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Kumaratunga was greeted on her arrival in the Maldives by former Maldives President?Mohamed Nasheed. (Colombo Gazette)

Ex-President’s son Namal Rajapaksa arrested again by FCID

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s son Namal Rajapaksa was arrested today by the police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID). Rajapaksa was arrested after being questioned over shares he had acquired from Hello Corp. Namal Rajapaksa was arrested earlier this year as well but was later released on his bail. He produced in court today and was remanded till August 22.
