England, Sri Lanka share points after wash-out

England and Sri Lanka’s opening match at the ICC Women’s World T20 2018 in St Lucia on Saturday, 10 November, was washed out without a ball being bowled.

The Group A match was to be the first of the tournament at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia. Following the excitement of the opening day triple-header in Guyana, the washout came as a disappointment.

It’s been raining in St Lucia in recent days, with the forecast pointing to more grey clouds. There were patches of sunshine, but with it pouring again before the scheduled toss, the umpires were forced to call off the day’s play.

Both teams share points as a result.

England’s next game is against Bangladesh on Monday, while Sri Lanka take on South Africa the same day.
