A Kandy hotel had to relocate some of its guests to others hotels to accommodate the Sri Lanka and England cricket teams for the second Test match this week.
Sri Lanka Cricket said that the 2nd Test Match to be played between Sri Lanka vs England will go ahead as planned in Pallekele, despite early concerns of shifting the match to Colombo owing to an issue which cropped up pertaining to the reservation of hotel rooms for the players and match officials.
“Following the intervention of the Minister of Sports Hon. Faiszer Musthapha PC., to resolve the matter, and after successful discussions had thereto between the Management of the Earls Regency Hotel and the Honorable Minister with the intention of accommodating the Two National Teams and Match Officials at Earls Regency Hotel in consideration of the national importance of the event, The Hotel, with the consent of the guests has taken steps to re-accommodate them to star hotels in the vicinity which consist of similar amenities,” the Sri Lanka Cricket board said.
In addition, SLC and the Hotel has decided to offer a variety of services and privileges as compensation to the guests who have deprived the stay at Earls Regency due to the aforementioned. (Colombo Gazette)
