UNP does not see Chinese hand in political crisis

The United National Party (UNP) says it does not see a Chinese hand in the political crisis in the country.

UNP Parliamentarian Sarath Fonseka said that both the current and former Governments have had a close relationship with China.

He said that the unity Government had worked with China on several projects. He said the?unity Government also had economic agreements with the Chinese.

However he said that some politicians may have had personal relationships with some diplomats. (Colombo Gazette)

Two Sri Lankans picked up for inquiry in Rameswaram

Two Sri Lankans have been picked up for inquiry in Rameswaram over claims they were planning to go back to Sri Lanka by boat illegally. According to The Hindu, the Thangachimadam Police picked up six persons, including two Sri Lankan nationals, R.
