Gun battle in Matara, policeman killed, three people injured

A gun battle erupted in the Matara town today between the Police and a group of robbers in which a policeman was killed and three people were injured. The Police said that the gun battle erupted when a gang?attempted to rob a jewellery store in the Matara town. Three policemen and a civilian were injured in the shooting and were admitted to hospital. One policeman succumbed to his injuries in hospital. Gazette issued listing 14 individuals with links to the LTTE

An?extraordinary gazette notification has been issued listing 14 individuals over their alleged links to the LTTE and refusing them entry into Sri Lanka. The 14 individuals have been included in an?amended list of designated persons under United Nations Regulations No. 01 of 2012.
