The Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Cheng Xueyuan, met Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at his Colombo residence today.
At the meeting he had conveyed a message from Chinese President Xi Jinping to Rajapaksa.
China and Rajapaksa have had a very close relationship from the time Rajapaksa was President.
That relationship continued even when Rajapaksa was in the opposition and was often invited for Chinese events in Colombo.
The Ambassador later met United National Party (UNP) leader Ranil Wickremesinghe as well. (Colombo Gazette)
