Cabinet approves proposal to ban cattle slaughter

The cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal tabled by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to ban cattle slaughter in Sri Lanka. Move to scrap Light Rail Transit project gets cabinet nod

The cabinet has approved a decision to terminate the Light Rail Transit (LRT) System project. Cabinet spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella told reporters today the Government has decided to look at an alternative option to the LRT project. Multiple amendments to be introduced to 20th Amendment

The Government is to introduce multiple amendments to the draft 20th Amendment to the Constitution. Attorney General Dappula de Livera informed the Supreme Court today that the amendments will be introduced during the committee stage debate in Parliament on the draft 20th Amendment.
