Hirunika fumes at the media, demands action

Parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra made a heated speech in Parliament today accusing some media institutions of engaging in mud slinging campaigns.
The Parliamentarian demanded that the Government and Parliament Speaker take action against the media who sling mud at her and other Parliamentarians.
She said that she had been wrongfully accused in the media this week, particularly on two private television stations.
Premachandra said that one television station was taking revenge on her since the brother of the owner of the television station was sentenced to death over her father’s murder.
Hirunika Premachandra also accused the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) of submitting a misleading report to court linking her to an allegation.
Premachandra said that the FCID had submitted the report without recording a statement from her.
She demanded that the FCID record her statement failing which she will visit the FCID on her own and demand that they question her. (Colombo Gazette)
