The former Chairman of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) Shashi Welgama was granted bail today in the case filed against him over alleged financial misappropriation. Welgama had been in remand over the allegations. The Colombo High Court granted Welgama bail but impounded his passport. (Colombo Gazette)

Five cops arrested over death of suspect further remanded

Five policemen arrested last month over the death of a suspect in the custody of the Peliyagoda police, have been further remanded till March 13. Among those arrested was a Sub Inspector (SI). Kuwaiti to pay Lankan maid for 4 years to avoid ban

A Kuwaiti woman has pledged to pay KD 3,300 to her Sri Lankan housemaid to prevent the authorities from slapping a ban on her to hire overseas domestic workers in future, reports Al-Anba daily.
