UN country representative holds talks with religious leaders in Kandy

The United Nations Resident Coordinator and United Nations Development Programme Resident Representative, Ms. Hanaa Singer, held talks with religious leaders in Kandy, the UN office in Colombo said today.

Hanaa Singer met with the Chief Prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Mahanayake Thera, Chief Prelate of the Sri Lanka Rāmañña Nikaya Most Venerable Napana Premasiri Thera and the Anu Nayaka of the Malwatta Chapter Most Venerable Dr. Niyangoda Vijithasiri Thera, during a two day visit to Kandy.

Ms. Singer also paid homage to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

Her visit included meetings with the Muslim clergy and representatives from civil society.

The UN office in Colombo said that Ms. Singer is scheduled to meet leaders from other religious communities during the coming days. (Colombo Gazette)
