Pakistan?s Defence Secretary to visit Sri Lanka

The Defence Secretary of Pakistan, Lt. Gen. (R) Ikram Ul Haq, along with a high level delegation will be arriving Sri Lanka on a 4-day visit from October 02 to 05, 2018 to participate in the Pakistan-Sri Lanka Armed Forces Defence Dialogue.

During the visit, the Defence Secretary will meet his Sri Lankan counterpart Mr. Kapila Waidayyarathne to discuss matters of professional interests. He will also hold meetings with Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral R.C. Wijegunaratne and Commanders of Sri Lanka tri-forces.

Defence ties between Pakistan and Sri Lanka are based on mutual trust and commonality of interest in maintaining regional peace, security and stability.

The dialogue aims?to promote professional and mutually beneficial relations between both Armed Forces. (Colombo Gazette)

Police Sergeant Premachandra promoted to SI

Police Sergeant Sarath Premachandra, who was killed during the Jaffna shooting incident on Saturday, has been promoted posthumously to the rank of a Sub Inspector (SI). High Court judge N. Illancheliyan was shot at by gunmen in Nallur, Jaffna while he was in his vehicle. The judge was unhurt but Premachandra, who was giving security to the judge was injured. Indo-Lanka accord hailed as helping defeat Prabakaran
